教會歴史

1980年代初期,住在大Binghamton地區的一群台灣人基督徒為了繼續能以自己的母語聚會,成立了一個台語查經班。

1980年代中期,台灣基督長老教會出身的潘成木牧師舉家移民來美,並定居在Binghamton。從此除了查經聚會以外,星期日也開始有主日崇拜的聚會,由潘成木牧師講道。

早期聚會都用台語,地方是輪流在成員的家裡。有一陣子也借用過一些美國教會。之後有許多年又固定在蔡宏基長老家。直到1992年正式立案成立Binghamton台灣基督教會。為了適應逐漸增多的中國移民,在1996年搬到EndicottFirst Presbyterian Church,潘成木牧師也改用華語講道直到2003年的12月退休回去台灣。2006年由許志靖傳道接任。2007年的8月購買Union Bible ChurchEndicott,改名為Union Christian Church of Binghamton

信仰告白

1.  我們相信聖經是 神完全與完整, 絕對沒有錯誤啟示, 在我們的信仰與生活上, 具有絕對的權威.

2.  我們相信只有一位 , 是自有永有, 以聖父, 聖子, 聖靈三個位格存在. 這三一真 神的一位格都有其相等的完全神性.

3.  我們相信耶穌基督是由聖靈感孕, 由童女馬利亞所生. 他是完全的 , 也是完全的人.

4.  我們相信耶穌基督為我們受死, 從死裡復活, 升天, 現在坐在神的右邊, 成為我們的大祭司, 為我們祈求.

5.  我們相信基督的再臨分為兩個階段, 包括教會的被提和他榮耀的再臨. 第一個階段就是在大災難與千禧年之前, 基督將來到空中, 教會 (信徒)被提, 這將在不久的將來, 隨時會發生. 第二個階段, 就是他要榮耀再臨, 在地上建立以公義治理的國度.

6.  我們相信聖靈是三一 神的第三位格, 他使信徒能悔改,重生,成聖,與得到成全.

7.  我們相信這個宇宙是 神所創造的, 包括各種活物和人, 都是神在創造週之中, 照著創世記裡面所記載的情況創造的. 我們反對自然進化論 (naturalistic) 與有神進化論 (theistic evolution)的思想.  

8.  我們相信人是照著 神的形像被造, 原是無罪, 而且能與神相交. 但是後來人犯罪了. 現在世人照其本性都是罪人,也照其選擇活在罪中, 遠離神. 這個神人之間關係的恢復,惟有藉著聖靈,經過 神在基督耶穌裡的恩典而達成.

9.  我們相信人的得救, 是本乎恩, 也因著在基督耶穌裡的信心.他代替我們死在十字架上, 為我們付了贖價.絕對無法靠著自己的善行與功德得救.

10.我們相信因信稱義, 就是 神稱那些相信與接受基督耶穌救贖恩典的人為義, 將基督的義歸在那些相信的罪人身上.

11. 我們相信成聖是一個被 神重價買贖回來, 使其分別為聖的聖徒的責任. 成聖是藉著聖靈與真理 (神的話)而能成就.

12. 我們相信撒但是受造而墮落的天使, 他抵擋所有聖潔的事,他的結局就是永遠的刑罰.

Bylaw 

1. Authority of the Laws

The bylaws of this church as a Congregation/Corporation shall be always subordinate to the Constitution and Laws of the State of New York.

It is the desire, purpose and intention of said Congregation/Corporation to operate and be governed as one body as provided in the Religious Corporation Law of the State of New York under one set of bylaws.

2. Annual Meeting

There shall be an annual meeting of the Congregation/Corporation during the month of February, in each year, on a date to be determined by the Session for the transaction of any business properly coming before such meeting. Public notice of the meeting shall be presented on two successive Sundays preceding the meeting.

3. Special Meetings

The Session may call special meetings of the Congregation/Corporation whenever, in their discretion, it is advisable, upon notice given as required for Annual Meetings. Such notice shall specify the business to be transacted, and no other business shall be transacted at such special meetings.

4. Presiding Officer

The Moderator of Session shall be the presiding officer of the meetings of the Congregation/Corporation and shall be the chair of the Trustees.

5. Secretary

The Clerk of Session shall be the secretary of the meetings of the Congregation/Corporation.

6. Quorum

The quorum of the meeting of the Congregation/Corporation shall be HALF of the congregational members. The Congregation is made up of all members on the active roll. All such members who are over 18 years of age present at a Congregation/Corporation meeting are entitled to vote. Transferred member who have joined this Church for more than 3 months are entitled to vote. Any important issues suggested by the session shall be approved at the general meeting by a two-thirds vote of those members present.

7. Boards of Congregation/Corporation

The Session shall consist of eight trustees. Any them two shall expire each year and be replaced by the newly elected trustees annually.

8. Duties and Responsibilities of the Session

The Session is responsible for the mission and government of the particular church.

9. Meetings of the Session

The Session shall meet at least quarterly during the year, and at such other times as called by the Moderator of Session. A meeting shall also be called when requested by a member of the Session. Reasonable notice of all special meetings must be given when other than routine business is to be transacted. A quorum of the Session shall be the pastor or other presiding officer and more than three trustees.

10. Officers

The officers of the Session shall be Moderator, Clerk of Session, Financial Secretary and Treasurer. All shall be elected annually. The Session may elect a person other than a Session member to any of the above elected offices.

Duties:

Moderator: The Chair of trustees shall possess the authority necessary for preserving order and conducting efficiently the business of the Session.

Clerk of Session: The Clerk of Session shall be a trustee of the Session. The Clerk shall record the transactions of the governing body, keep its rolls of membership and attendance, preserve its records carefully, and furnish extracts from them when required by another governing body of the Church.

Financial Secretary: The Secretary shall check and collect all pledges and keep records thereof, collect funds for benevolent purposes and keep records thereof, and report the same to the respective Treasurers within a month. All records shall be open to the inspection of the Session at all times.

Treasurer: The Treasurer shall keep an account of all monies received and expended for the use of the church and shall make disbursements as directed by the Session. All sums shall be deposited in a bank or banks approved by the Session. The Treasurer shall make a report at the Annual Meeting and at the stated meetings of Session, and shall perform such other duties as may from time to time be assigned by the Session.

The funds, books and vouchers of the Treasurer shall at all times be under the supervision of the Session and subject to its inspection and control.

The Moderator shall appoint an auditing committee to examine all financial records at least once a year and submit a report at the Annual Meeting of the Congregation/Corporation.

11. Records of Session

The records of the session may be open to inspection by members of the Congregation/Corporation with prior Session approval.

12. Reports of Session

All committees of the Session shall report annually to the Congregation/Corporation.

The Session report shall include:

a) The receipts and payments for the last fiscal year. b) An estimate or budget of expenses for the current year. c) Any business to be undertaken for the welfare of the Congregation/Corporation. d) An Exhibit of the real property, trust funds and other resources of the Congregation.

13. Financial Obligations

No financial obligations except those directly connected with the current expenses of the Congregation/Corporation shall be incurred by the Session unless approved by vote of the Congregation/Corporation at a duly called meeting.

The authorized signatures in connection therewith shall be those of the Chair of Session and the Treasurer.

14. Amendments

The bylaws shall be amended at any Congregation/Corporation meeting by a two-thirds vote of those members present. The proposed amendment(s) shall be presented on two successive Sundays preceding the meeting.
